ABOUT LAPTOP SCREEN (How Laptop Screen Works)

LAPTOP SCREEN:

This is the display unit of the portable computer, A flat LCD or plasma screens that uses a liquid compound having a polar molecular structure, sandwiched between two transparent electrodes in a process called cryogenesis.

LAPTOP SCREEN FRONT VIEW:

1. Display Latch: The display latch holds the display when closed

2. Display: 13.3-inch XGA, outdoor-viewable, color display with an optional integrated DynaVue® touch screen

3. Internal Microphone: Integrated, weatherized microphone can be used with various software applications that require audio input

4. Pen / Stylus Slot: Store the provided custom touch screen pen (stylus) in this slot below the touchpad

5. Right Tether Slot: You can attach a stylus tether here

6. Handle: Integrated handle for convenient carrying

7. Touchpad Buttons: Use like the buttons on a mouse

8. Left Tether Slot: You can attach a stylus tether here

9. Touchpad: Use for navigation

10. Keyboard: Standard keyboard with embedded numeric keypad

11. Button and LED strip: Area above the keyboard with the power button, Radio ON/OFF Switch, Application
Launch Key and LED Status Indicators

HOW LAPTOP SCREEN WORKS:
  • When an electric field is applied, the molecules align with the field, forming a crystalline arrangement that polarizes the light passing through it. A polarized filter laminated over the electrodes blocks polarized light. In this way, a grid of electrodes can selectively “turn on” a cell, or a pixel, containing the liquid crystal material, turning it dark. In some types of liquid crystal displays, an electroluminescent panel is placed behind the screen to illuminate it. Other types of liquid crystal displays are capable of reproducing color.

TYPE OF LAPTOP SCREEN:
  • Thin Film Transistor (TFT): The standard screen technology is predominantly found on business machines. It has a matt finish, so it perfect for use in bright locations. But the overall image isn’t as bright as new technologies.
  • Super-TFT: This is the latest screen technology that takes a standard TFT panel and adds a lacquered top layer. The end result is truer image quality and far more realistic pictures. The one downside of the lacquered coat is that it  can be quite reflective. especially in brightly lit rooms.

LED DISPLAY: Instead of using the Flourescent tubes found in most screens, LED panels use a row of LELD lights running along the bottom of the panel. The screen produces truer colours and better contrast, so movies look more fluid and photos more realistic.

LAPTOP SCREEN FORMAT:
  • Several business laptops are available with upright 4:3 aspect ratios – the same as older Tvs – but most machines are now shipped with wide screen 16:10 panels, or even wider 16:9 displays. User can fit more documents onscreen and they are also great for watching films in native resolutions.
16: 10 Aspect Ratio:
  • This ratio is currently the most common, although it’s increasingly being replaced by wider 16:9 panels. It’s sill the most popular in budget laptops.
16:9  Aspect Ratio:
  • Better known as true wide screen, they are squat but wider, so you can get more on them. Perfect for work but, more importantly, they’re ideal for watching movies.
